RUBC Men's Team Pipped to the Post

Following the final round of BLI League Division 3 matches this weekend, Railway Union Bowling Club's first team have been narrowly pipped to the post for promotion to Division 2 by Skerries Bowling Club.

Although Railway Union were six points ahead of Skerries going into the final week, we had played all our matches while Skerries still had a match to play. Unfortunately for us, that last match was a home game on their artificial bowling green (a playing surface that visiting teams generally have great trouble getting to grips with).  Skerries very rarely lose any points at home, and true to form they scored a maximum seven points in their last match. They therefore finished ahead of Railway Union in Division 3 by the narrowest of margins - one point.

Congratulations to Skerries on their promotion to Division Two.  Although disappointed with the final outcome, we were pleased to have pushed them all the way, and in the process secured our highest points total in many years.  We'll be back next year, when we intend to take the final step and win promotion to the senior leagues.
