We're just past the half-way point of the 2011 bowling season, and Railway Union's teams are all going well in BLI/LBLI league and championship competitions. As a relatively small bowling club, we continue to punch well above our weight. Here's how we're getting on - BLI/LBLI Leagues Men's A Team - After a difficult start to the season, the men's first team rallied well and is currently at 3rd place in the Bowling League of Ireland's Division 3, just four points from the top. Following several year's of good progress, we are now in a position to challenge for the Division title, which would mean promotion to bowling's senior division. The second half of the season kicks off on Saturday 9th July, with a match at home to Leinster B. Follow the team's progress <<here>> Men's B Team - The Men's second team also had slightly shaky start and were unlucky to lose several games narrowly, but have started to put some wins together and are confident of moving up in Division 5, where they currently occupy a comfortable sixth place. Follow the team's progress <<here>> Ladies Team - The Ladies team currently holds second place in Ladies Division 3 and are only three points from the top. After a blistering start to the season, a few unfortunate losses saw the ladies reeled back in, but they are well poised to challenge for the title in the second half of the season. Follow the team's progress <<here>> BLI/LBLI Championships Railway Union are once again having a very good year in the BLI/LBLI Championships. Following appearances in the finals of two cups in each of the last two years, with Railway teams winning the Mecredy cup in 2009 and Tyler Cup in 2010, we are once again well represented at the business end of the championships.
