About our club

Welcome to Railway Union Bowling Club!

Founded in 1904, Railway Union Bowling Club is Dublin’s second-oldest bowling club. We were a founder member of the “Irish Free State Bowling League,” which later evolved into The Bowling League of Ireland (BLI) in 1927 and which since 2022 has been known as Irish Lawn Bowls (ILB).

Competitions and Trophies: Throughout the bowling season, we actively participate in ILB league and cup competitions, as well as all-Ireland inter-club and inter-association events. Our own internal club competitions are fiercely competitive, with winners proudly taking home and showing off our incredible trophies to their families and friends for at least a year! Then they bring them back, and we go again!

Our Green: Our full competition-size 6-rink bowling green is in use from April to September each year. It’s the heart of our club, where camaraderie and skill come together.

Success and Enjoyment: While we always strive for victory, we believe that the joy of playing is just as important. When players have fun, they perform better - simple as that! 🤗

Bowls: Don't Diss it 'til you Try it!: Bowls is an enjoyable and exciting (Yes! Really!) way to spend a fine summer's afternoon or evening. If you’ve never tried it, rolling a bowl toward the jack will quickly captivate you. Stay active in our competitive yet friendly environment, and don’t forget to unwind with a drink at the bar after your “strenuous” efforts!
