About our club

  • Founded in 1904, Railway Union is Dublin's second-oldest bowling Club. The Club was a founder member of the "Irish Free State Bowling League", which was later to become the The Bowling League of Ireland (BLI) in 1927.
  • We participate in BLI league and cup competitions, the Irish Bowling Association (IBA) Senior Challenge Cup, and all-Ireland inter-club and inter-association competitions throughout the bowling season.
  • We've enjoyed considerable success through the years but, while we always strive to win, the pleasure of playing is just as important. As far as we're concerned, if players enjoy themselves, they play better - simple as that.

  • Our club colours are green and old gold

  • Bowls is a great and surprisingly exciting (yes, really!) way of enjoying a summers' afternoon or evening. If you've never played the game before, it won't be long before the attraction of just rolling a bowl towards  the jack grips you. It's an enjoyable way of staying active in a competitive but friendly environment. And, of course, there's always the bit of craic in the bar afterwards.
  • Railway Union Bowling Club boasts a full competition-size 6-rink bowling green which is in use during the bowling season from April to September each year. And we're currently building a brand-new, modern bowling pavilion beside our green, which is due to be completed this summer.

We're building a young, dynamic bowling club.
