About our club
Railway Union Bowling Club was founded in 1904 and is Dublin's second-oldest bowling Club. We were a founder member of the "Irish Free State Bowling League", which was later to become the The Bowling League of Ireland (BLI) in 1927.
We take part in BLI league and cup competitions, as well as all-Ireland inter-club and inter-association competitions, throughout the bowling season.
We hold very competitive internal club competitions each year, with the winners taking home some incredible trophies to proudly show off to their friends and relations....for a year at least.
We boast a full competition-size 6-rink bowling green, which is in use throughout the bowling season from April to September each year.
Our teams have enjoyed great success over the years and, while we always strive to win, the pleasure of playing is just as important. If players are enjoying themselves, they play better - simple as that.
Bowls is an enjoyable and exciting (yes, really!) way to spend a nice summers' afternoon or evening. If you've never played before, it won't be long before the fascination of rolling a bowl to the jack grips you. It's a great way to keep active in a competitive yet friendly environment. And, of course, you can enjoy a drink in the bar after your 'strenuous' efforts.
We're building a young, dynamic, exciting bowling club.
